Nutrience took its name from the word ‘nutrient’ from the latin word ‘nutriens’ meaning to nourish or feed. This guiding principle has led Nutrience to providing dogs and cats with complete and balanced diets for over 30 years. Proper nourishment has been at the core of Nutrience’s philosophy and continues to fuel its innovation. All Nutrience formulas meet the nutritional standards set by AAFCO with ingredients that are humanely raised and sustainably harvested.
Crafted in small batches in our very own kitchen located in British Columbia, Canada, Nutrience formulas are made with locally sourced proteins, fruits and vegetables. Our 9.98 million square kilometers of endless lakes, rivers and forests stretching from the Maritimes to the British Columbia coasts provide us with some of the best raw ingredients for our dog and cat foods and treats. We take great pride in sourcing fresh poultry, meats, wild-caught fish, and produce directly from Canadian farmers, ranchers and fishermen –chicken and turkey from Fraser Valley; beef and bison from the Prairies; or any of the wild-caught fish that is plentiful in the cold, clear waters of the Pacific Northwest.
Every bag of Nutrience is produced at a Safe Food Quality Program level-3 facility. This ensures that we follow the highest possible standards within pet food manufacturing, equal to that of human grade facilities. Every batch made passes the most rigorous testing procedures, subscribes to the most stringent food processing policies, and is double checked by third parties for safety. Now in its second generation of family ownership since 1955, the company operates its own pet food facility as the means of providing absolute assurance that its Nutrience brand promise is kept - the promise of a food made from quality ingredients that truly nourishes pets to live a healthier and longer life.
Nutrience’s formulas are made with locally sourced ingredients that are humanely raised and sustainably harvested. Local sourcing reduces our carbon footprint by minimizing the amount of travel time, fuel consumption, air pollution and refrigeration needs. All fish sourced for Nutrience dry food formulas are wild caught. Nutrience promotes and supports sustainable farming among local farmers and growers. Sustainable farming uses practices and methods that are economically viable and environmentally sound. Fruits, vegetables, and animal products that are sustainably raised and harvested help to promote the preservation of the environment.
Nutrience also supports local animal shelters and organizations on a continuous basis throughout the year. Providing product samples, as well as food to these organizations, helps keep their doors open and allows them to continue to educate and promote companion animal health and well being, which is an important part of Nutrience’s ethical values.
“If we’re going to give our family name to something, it has got to be the very best. Our customers trust us and we need to prove we deserve that trust. After all, without them, we wouldn’t be in business.”
